Frank William Abagnale, Jr. was born on April 27, 1948. He is best known for his history as a former con man, check forger, and skilled imposter. He is now an American security consultant. He became infamous in the 1960s after he successfully passed 2.5 million dollars worth of forged checks over the course of five years and through 26 countries. He was only sixteen when he started this five hear run. During this time, he claims to have assumed about eight identities. He successfully impersonated a pilot, a doctor, a prison inspector, and a lawyer. Frank was caught, but escaped from police twice. One instance was from an airplane and another from a U.S. Federal Penitentiary. This was all before he was twenty one years old. The Movie Catch Me If You Can is based on his life. He is portrayed by Leonardo Dicaprio in this film. He is now a consultant and lecturer at the F.B.I. academy and also runs Abagnale & Associates, a financial fraud consultant company.
